For people who make New Year's resolutions to be healthier or lose weight, it is important to remember that staying active year round is very important as "Our bodies are made to move," said Cynthia Marsh, owner of a Curves franchise in Hayden. "Being sedentary decreases our quality of life and increases the possibility of diseases.  a  couch might be comfortable, but it will not your friend for very long."

Curves is an international chain of franchises and is the world's largest "Women Only" facility in the world.  A 30-minute circuit training program is offered, with additional classes to add even more great results for strength and endurance.

Most health experts agree that exercising three or four times a week, plus eating a nutritious diet will result in weight loss.  However, after long period of not exercising, many people make the common mistake of overdoing it on the first day.  This can result in injuries that sideline the person for weeks.

"If it's been a couple of weeks or even months, I am encouraging them to start slow", said Marsh.  "Ease into your exercise to gradually build up strength and stamina.  As your body acclimates to the exercise, a more demanding workout can then be safely done."
