Yolanda Nelson, 82
July 7, 1935 — Jan. 7, 2018
Yolanda Nelson was born in Torreon, Coah., Mexico, and later moved to Tecate, Mexico, where she worked in the city tax office. It was there that she met her gringo sailor husband, Larry, and started on her life’s adventure that would span 54 years. She started out with two years in the Philippine Islands, then went coast to coast from San Diego to Florida, then Spirit Lake, and ending up in Hayden, Idaho.
She loved to travel and would try anything. She worked as a teacher’s aide, court interpreter and for Gonzaga and Silverwood for quite a while. She belonged to the Athol American Legion Auxiliary and the Silver Lake Striders.
Yolanda is survived by her husband, Larry; sons, Carlos and Miles; daughter, Patricia and grandson, Giovonni. After a long battle from a stroke and heart failure, she is finally at rest.
A special thanks to the people at Bristol Heights and Hospice whose loving care made her long stay bearable.
Vaya Con Dios, Yoly
