First District Judge John Mitchell said he was so used to running unopposed, campaigning was something of a challenge in itself.

You wouldn’t guess by the final numbers.

With ballots cast in the judicial race from Idaho’s five northern counties, Mitchell easily defeated Doug Pierce in Tuesday’s nonpartisan primary election. Mitchell finished with 19,478 votes; Pierce had 11,733.
