A Spokane Valley man was arrested on charges of kidnapping and eluding peace officers Monday after leading Idaho State Police and Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office personnel on a vehicle chase that began on Interstate 90 near Cataldo and ended near Mullan.
Rodney A. Bradley, 28, was taken into custody after driving off the road into a snow bank, according to ISP.
The chase began after ISP received a call around 11:25 a.m. that a woman and two children had been kidnapped.
The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office reported it received a call around 11:45 a.m. from ISP requesting assistance in the pursuit that was heading from Kootenai County into Shoshone County.
ISP advised SCSO dispatch that the driver of the vehicle was the suspect in a kidnapping and that one adult and two children were also in the vehicle.
Shoshone County deputies and an officer with the Osburn Police Department joined the pursuit. The vehicle was reportedly traveling at speeds of 60 to 100 mph.
Spike strips were used in two separate locations to stop the vehicle. With three tires deflated, the suspect vehicle continued east on three rims, and drove into the opposing travel lane for several miles, according to ISP.
The suspect vehicle left the interstate and went into the city of Mullan, causing the Mullan School District to go into a brief lockdown.
The vehicle returned to the interstate where it slid off the road near milepost 71 where the suspect was taken into custody and the vehicle’s other occupants were ushered to safety.
No additional information was released by ISP.
