Today’s ghastly groaner

Sam and Julie were touring the American Southwest. During a break in their travels, they see an old man lying on the ground with his ear pressed against the road.

“Let’s go talk to that man,” Sam said. “Old men in this area have wisdom.”

They walked over and bent down. Sure enough, the man was reciting wisdom.

“Red Buick…New Mexico plates…four people in the car…a man with black hair and a green shirt, a woman with blonde hair and a blue shirt, a boy and a girl…they’re driving west…”

“Amazing!” said Julie. “We are in awe of your wisdom. Did you get all that by listening to the road?”

“No,” said the old man. “They ran over me five minutes ago.”
