NOISE: A sound so sweet

Print Article

I couldn’t believe the length of the letter that Ms. Smith wrote complaining about noise in Coeur d’Alene. To me the noise means it’s summer. Coming from SoCal almost 12 years ago, I am not a fan of the cold weather or the snow, but I live with it. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

The “noise” from the motorcycles and some of the cars only lasts a few seconds and they’re gone. The only fireworks I know of are on the Fourth of July at the lake. Maybe 15 or 20 minutes and it’s over. I don’t own a motorcycle or one of those “noisy” cars. You sound like you live near the lake. I don’t.

You talk about sensible options in Europe for fireworks. Sorry, but I think part of the fun is the “noise.” I’ll be 78 next week, and I can take a little “noise” from time to time. I bet you don’t like to hear dogs bark.
