DAYLIGHT: Dim view of proposal

This is in response to the article regarding Sen. Steve Vick’s proposal to end daylight savings time in order to follow Washington’s lead.

That is an AWFUL idea. I cannot imagine that most people want to have the sun come up at 3:30 a.m. instead of 4:30 a.m. and go down at 7:30 p.m. instead of 8:30 p.m. We will lose approximately 203 hours of useful daylight with this proposal.

Our backyard barbecues, evenings on the lake, baseball games, picnics at the park, camping days with the kids playing outside, will all end one hour earlier. Families look forward to having enough time in the spring and summer to enjoy family activities in the evening after work. We live in a summer paradise and want to enjoy our area to its fullest.

The Press article said “many have supported and none have opposed” this proposal. People I have interacted with are EXCITED for Daylight Savings Time.

I am urging Sen. Vick to end this proposal. At a minimum, people deserve a chance to voice their opinion on this through a general vote before they decide to steal our daylight hours.
