INGRAM: Three words for Gary

Print Article

We lost a great local “Sunshine” advocate last week. A veteran of many years of exposure to this low key but great thinker, I can sum up my experiences with a noun and two adjectives.

Protagonist: For everything political to be done in the light of day. I.e., Idaho’s Open Meeting Law author in 1974 while serving as our State Representative.

Pragmatic: Always open to a sensible solution to an issue.

Wry: He lent us his humor with a smile and wink of his eye to let you know he had made his point.

On more than one occasion when I would be booking a Candidate to speak to the Reagan Republican’s lunch meeting, I would be asked “Is Gary Ingram going to be there?” When asked why, the response was usually, “he asks hard rhetorical questions,” which was just another way to say “he calls my bluff.”

God Bless you Gary, and keep those in your new home in the Sunshine as you have always done with us.
