Missouri men's basketball player Jordan Barnett was arrested Saturday on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The MU student-athlete handbook states that the minimum suspension for a first offense is one week, which means that the team's second highest scorer will be sitting out round one of March Madness.
Thirteen percent of the state's seniors are facing the threat of hunger or are marginally food insecure, according to the National Foundation to End Senior Hunger. A sudden change in income due to illness or the loss of a spouse can begin a person's reliance on food pantries.
Officer Justin Anthony uses basketball to connect with Columbia residents when he's doing community police work. Getting to know residents on a personal level starts with saying hello, Anthony said.
"It's about trying to understand what's important with the people you serve, because that’s who they are," he said.
The Missouri Students Association scrapped the upcoming presidential election after offensive tweets were found from at least one member of each of the three slates. A date isn't set for the new election, but it will happen before the end of this semester.
Mizzou runner Karissa Schweizer won her fifth career national title, less that 24 hours after earning her fourth, in the women’s 3,000-meter race on Saturday at the NCAA Track and Field Indoor Championships in College Station, Texas.
On Friday, it took Schweizer just 15 minutes, 43 seconds to become the first four-time national champion in Missouri history when she placed first in the women’s 5,000 race.
