The fun never ends for Brandy Crawley. Literally.

The activities coordinator for Qualfon, a large-scale call center operation, is tasked with keeping about 500 employees happy.

“I love being able to have an impact on so many people's lives by creating a better work environment for them,” says Crawley. “I believe that doing fun things on a daily basis shows that Qualfon really cares about its employees.”

Qualfon is a business outsource processor with three local call centers and a dozen others around the globe. Qualfon employs about 1,000 people at its locations in Coeur d'Alene, Hayden and Liberty Lake.

But how does somebody have fun at a call center?

Ice cream, for starters.

“We hand out ice cream randomly,” says Crawley with a smile.

Add some memorable tunes echoing through the office.

“We'll have the karaoke machine and have people sing during breaks,” she says. “We play games as well. Anything to brighten their day, we do.”

And who hasn't dreamed of dunking their boss in a tank filled with cold water?

“We did that,” she says. “The employees loved dunking their managers. It was a blast.”

Crawley took the job as activities coordinator in April 2016. She previously worked as an esthetician in the area. Her focus is finding innovative ways to celebrate the employees, including using Qualfon's Facebook page to share the smiles.  

The Post Falls mom is tickled by Facebook posts from employees who write things like: “Great place to work… Wonderful people... Something for everyone…

One of the most supported employee geared places I have ever had the honor of working for... I love my Qualfon family…”

All of this fun and good feelings is good business, says Crawley. For proof, she points to Qualfon's employee turnover rate and says it's much lower than its competitors.

“You can't fake fun,” says Crawley, who graduated from Priest River High School.  “I know it's helping our retention rates and we're known as a great place to work.”

Employees' personal interests and hobbies are celebrated. If you're a fan of the NFL, get ready for some popcorn on Monday Night Football game nights. Crawley also oversees employee clubs to connect people with similar interests, such as disc golf, softball, gardening and arts and crafts.

 “Real friendships are formed from these clubs,” she says. “We want to have a family atmosphere. We encourage our employees to bring their kids to work and spend time with them at our various events throughout the year. We just had a big BBQ and everyone loved it.”

 Part of that sense of family is reflected by the employees' generosity. Qualfon workers rally around each other in times of need. They've raised thousands of dollars to help offset medical costs for employees with life-threatening health care issues.

In addition, Qualfon conducts a Back-to-School Backpack program for the children of employees who are struggling in life.

“Last year, thanks to employee donations, more than 100 backpacks were purchased and filled with school supplies,” says Crawley. “Our employees are incredibly generous and caring toward one another. We even had a clothing swap to help with reducing the costs of back to school clothes.”

Qualfon workers also donate their time and energy to local charities, such as Habitat for Humanity and the local food banks.

 “They really care about this community,” she says. “Yes I have a fun job, but it is truly an honor to work here.”
