RICHLAND, Wash. — Olivia Zufelt went 3 for 3 with three RBIs and three runs scored as the Lake City Timberwolves powered past the Kennewick Lions 13-1 in the Richland mixer on Saturday afternoon at Richland High.

Jalyssa Beamer also had three hits and Reilley Chapman scored three runs for Lake City against Richland.

“It was nice to jump on Kennewick early with four runs in the first,” Lake City coach Jesse Lenz said. “Jalyssa and Lacey Lemburg both had great days at the plate.”

Bailey Cavanangh had two RBIs and two runs scored and Ashley Kaufman struck out seven as the Timberwolves beat Southridge 12-0.

“Offensively, we were able to jump out to a lead again, and we took advantage of some mistakes by Southridge to add on,” Lenz said. “AK (Ashley Kaufman) threw the ball very well, hitting her spots and keeping them off balance. Olivia and Haley (Loffer) had some good at-bats and I really liked the teams two strike approach at the plate. Overall, I am extremely proud of my team and I think we grew this weekend as a team.”

Lake City (3-1) is scheduled to travel to Moscow on Tuesday.

Coeur d’Alene

drops three

in busy day

RICHLAND, Wash. — Betty Comack had two hits and two RBIs for the Vikings against Emerald Ridge as part of the Richland mixer.

Coeur d’Alene lost 13-5 to Richland, 12-2 to Walla Walla and 9-7 to Emerald Ridge.

“We played terrible defense and communicated poorly,” Coeur d’Alene coach Darren Taylor said. “We’re just a really young team and our returners are playing some new positions. We had a lot of mental mistakes, but it’s nobody’s fault. It was our first time outside all year, so we didn’t have some of the things we should have done. Our pitchers were a little wild with too many walks and we need to control the strike zone. I think we’ll be OK, and for some it was their first varsity game ever.”

Natalie Sell hit a solo home run in the sixth inning and Kylie Smith had two hits and two runs scored against Richland for Coeur d’Alene, which is scheduled to play at West Valley on Wednesday.

Post Falls falls to

Chiawana, Walla Walla

RICHLAND, Wash. — Abby Melton had two hits, including a solo home run in the third inning for the Trojans in a 6-1 loss to the Chiawana Riverhawks in the Richland mixer.

Allison Morris and Dinah Seymour also had two hits for Post Falls against Chiawana.

Bailey Gleaves drove in two runs for Post Falls in a 4-3 loss to Walla Walla.

“We didn’t play as well as we expected to against Chiawana,” Post Falls coach Brian Stranger said. “They weren’t six runs better than us, but they were today. Walla Walla is a very good team, and we led for five innings, but came up short. It was a good game to play, and it was really a lack of being on the field. We’ve got some bugs to work out, and we’ll do that.”

Post Falls (1-3) travels to Moscow for a doubleheader on April 4.
