CATHOLIC: Attacks old news

Print Article

A very interesting letter from Arnie Anton in the March 12 issue of the Coeur d’Alene Press. Mr. Anton is in serious need of some education.

To begin he refers to the long-ended sex scandal that plagued the Catholic Church several years ago. The guilty parties were not pedophiles as he claims, but were homosexuals. The church made a mistake in admitting large numbers of “gays” to the priesthood back in the heyday of the be nice to “gays” era. That mistake has long been corrected, but bigots like Mr. Anton continue to use it like a club to batter the church. To help support that bigotry, Mr. Anton refers to the “thousands” killed in the name of Rome in earlier days. It just might help your cause, Mr. Anton, if you provided some factual data — difficult as it would be to provide — in support of that vague claim. The same applies to “untold young boys” and the previously mentioned “thousands of people killed.” And please remember to refer to those killed by other religions as an indication of your sense of fair play. And don’t forget the millions — yes millions — of helpless infants killed by abortion.

We Catholics are used to the attacks of bigots like you Mr. Anton. We’ve been enduring them for 2,000 years. Fortunately we have better and wiser words to sustain us as in “the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Try reading that in your “Holy Bible.” If you can’t find it, you need a new Bible. Try to get a really holy one this time.
